Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

It must be sad to see how our lives turn out today, when we come to realize that it is always the smallest thing around us that matters most. During this pandemic, billions have been tested positive, millions had died, we have lost our loved ones, it must be hitting hard on everyone, isn't it?

Through this pandemic, it is not about sorrowing over what we had lost, but rather what did we learned. We have to use this pandemic as an opportunity to relearn everything, to cherish our loved ones, to appreciate the small things around us, to love our own life. It is not going to be easy, because as Epictetus said in his book Discourses, "For it is impossible for anyone to begin to learn that which he thinks he already knows." We cannot assume we know everything, even when we do.

We need to be willing to take a step back, relearn everything again and make progression from there. You don't have to be rushing for progression all the time, it is impossible. You will never be contented with what you already possess now, all you want is more of this, more of that, basically more of everything in life. Yet when your time is due, you still have to go, nature will reclaim what belongs to her.

That's why we have to acknowledge that sometimes unpleasant situation happens, not only should we learn to embrace it, but we have to assess it.

Dating back to late 1910s when Spanish Flu struck the world, there is nothing we can do except slowing down. As soon as the world recovers, everything will get right back on track. Humanity continues.

Don't worry about losing your progression now, because even if you do, you can always get back on track, as long as you want to. So, rather than despairing about life today, why don't YOU spare some time to accompany your loved ones? Take some time off the hustle-and-bustle of life, and treasure the people around you during this pandemic.
