Thrust and Retreat
It is always important for us to know when to thrust forward, and when to retreat backward.
There is just no way one's life could always be a linear progression, where they constantly move against the gradient as if there is no peak point. Not only is it unrealistic, but simply unachievable. No matter how hardworking, determined and unswerving you are in life, you will experience burn out one day if all you are looking to achieve is lifelong progression. You just can't!
This bring me to my title for this blog, "Thrust and Retreat". It is indeed important for us to acknowledge their significance in our daily life, if we are seeking for improvement.
When you are placed in an advantageous situation, THRUST.
When you are placed in a disadvantageous situation, RETREAT.
You have to learn to analyze the entire game, for there is no one better than you in carving your own life. Only you know what you want, who you want to be and where you want to go. It is crucial for us to dictate our own life without letting having others have too much of a chance to determine how it should turn out.
Take a look at the ancient war, the general knows when to order his infantries to thrust, and he too knows when to retreat. He will never ever order them to thrust despite their enemy is clearly way more superior than they are. That is not courage, that is stupidity.
Only by thrusting forward at the appropriate time, and retreat to recuperate ourselves from our launched attack, can we ensure we are in good hands of our own life.
