I Failed, Now What?
When the world caves in, when something goes wrong, when things don't go the way you expect... ... Sounds familiar? Comment below what comes into your mind first after reading these three phrases. Failure? Common. Opportunity? Psychopath. Hold on, you might be thinking why are you calling me a psychopath when I am just trying to be optimistic here? After all, isn't this something you preach here? Before you lose your brain cells figuring out why, I will tell you the reason.
We always believe that something that conforms to the social standard or generally speaking, socially acceptable, must be right. If something is not accepted by the society, it must be wrong. The public's voice always outlast everything, right? That's why we punish criminals after all, right? Why didn't we punish people that tear others down then? Simple words go a long way. One never knows how big of an impact his words will have on others, unless the person tells him otherwise. A sentence may sound innocent to you, but it might not be the same for others. They might interpret it the other way round. This all might sound damaging to one's overall mental health , but there's something even damaging...
One's own opinion.
Their opinions are scary, but yours are exceptionally scarier. When something in your life goes off track, believe it or not, that's just the sound of public. It never really is your own thoughts that are guiding you at that moment. When we are at the verge of breaking down, that's when our mind is the weakest. Our inner fortress collapses, enemies are bashing in (we start to take in other's opinions), taking down our first line of army (we start to doubt ourselves), then the second (we start to give in) and finally the third (we lost faith in ourselves). When the third line of army is officially defeated, the enemy gets to the king. There are two options here, the king is a competent one and knows how to fight back (invulnerable mind) or an incompetent one and waits for the arrival of his death (vulnerable mind).
It really is up to you on how you response to situation like this. You can toughen yourself up, stop being a snowflake and work on yourself. Or you can just get comfortable by following what the public has to say about you and work for them.
Just because something is not going as expected, it doesn't mean it is off track. Even if a project you work on has exceeded the deadline, it still is not a failure. It only is when you completely throw it off, and stop working on it. Just because they define something is a failure for you, you don't have to. You can keep on going, keep up with the grind.
People can hurt you, but that only happens when you give them the permission to. Similarly, people can define you as a failure, but you will never be if you never believe it.
You never fail, you are just lost for a moment.
Now that you know, go ahead, work on yourself, and prove those haters wrong, Kings and Queens!♔♕
